Make sure to follow us on facebook so you don’t miss our latest updates! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But, what does that really mean? Are we just supposed to think about Breast Cancer? No. You need to seriously consider not just your own personal risk of Breast Cancer, but you need to get proactive. Grab your girlfriends, get your mom, your sister, sister in law, your second cousin's BFF from 3rd grade- and go get a mammogram. Everyone knows you are supposed to do self exams ever single month. Are you? Really? It takes just a few minutes and it could save your life. Women, especially mothers and wives, have a tendency to put everyone first and overlook or ignore their own health. But, instead of skipping that exam or putting off that mammogram – again, think about this for a moment; if you are sick or you aren't here, you can't take care of anyone. Mammograms are not fun, but early detection can save your life. If you or your partner find a lump go get it checked. Don't wait till next month or have the 'I'll just wait for a little while- see if it goes away' attitude. You, as the owner of those breasts, owe it to your family and everyone who loves you to go and get them checked. Get a friend and schedule your appointments close together and make a day or afternoon of it. Have lunch, do some shopping, get your mammogram, see a movie. It doesn't have to be scary or terrible. But, it does need to be done. You can find more great information on Breast Health, at the Mayo Clinic.
