Acne is just one of those skin conditions that many of us have, at least once in our lifetime, But, the comdition is more common for teenagers due to puberty and hormonal changes. Typically the main cause for acne is hormonal changes, but it can also be caused by bacteria on the skin or from oil collecting on the skin. Since, it can be triggered by hormonal changes, females can also be prone to breakouts around the time of their menstrual cycle. Most of the time acne doesn't cause lasting damage to the skin. They just develop cysts and nodules, on the skin consisting of small puss bumps under the skin. The skin becomes red and inflamed and can be itchy as well. These mainly go away after a while as they dry up but squeezing them can lead to scarring and really it’s best to leave them alone. Acne is normal and can appear mostly on the face but also in places where we sweat quite a lot like the back or the chest or anywhere where we sweat is common or we have oily skin. There are several ways to treat acne but their are only 3 types of drugs that we know of that are proven to work and to be effective and they are: Antibiotics – These can be used to lessen the appearance on the skin by taking tablets or applying creams or ointments to the skin directly. Benzoyl peroxide – This is probably the most common of them all and we have all probably used it at some point. It is most common as we just simply apply it to the effected area and it will mostly dry up the infected area. Retinoids – These are usually used to treat the beginning stages of acne but can lead to irritation as well for some people. Hormone Therapy: This is commonly done by utilising birth control pills as they regulate the amount of estrogen and progesterone in the body and can be effective. If you are suffering from acne then there are various foods which are to be avoided such as chocolates, orange juice, candy, greasy fried items and also milk. If these foods are taken they might lead to increasing the problem. You can apply oil free products on your skin which might help relieve things and decrease the problem.
